Hackney GP Training practices

Stamford Hill Group practice

Stamford Hill Group Practice is a large, young, friendly inner city practice with seven partners and approximately 13,000 patients situated in the north of Hackney with some patients in the Haringey area. Two of the seven partners are full time trainers, Dr Clifton Marks and Dr Laurence Blumberg, and we usually have two Registrars in post, simultaneously. The Registrars have their consulting rooms following a recent building expansion.

We are fortunate in being able to work from premises that have recently been extended and refurbished and include the provision of a lift to help our disabled patients. We have nine consulting rooms and two nurses' treatment rooms for a large multi-disciplinary team, which includes three Nurses, attached Health Visitors, District Nurses and Counsellors. We are developing a paperless practice through a GP computer system.

In addition to our usual clinics, we also undertake a Baby Clinic and Child Health Surveillance Programme, together with a Community Antenatal Clinic, which is attached to Homerton Hospital Maternity Unit, which their midwives attend. We run a Diabetic and Asthma Clinic and have attached Chiropodists, Dieticians and an Outreach Psychiatric Clinic.

We are part of an out-of-hours GP Co-operative with many of the other GP Teaching Practices in Hackney.

The Stamford Hill Group Practice was one of the first training practices in London and in addition to the Postgraduate Training Programme; the practice is also a Hub teaching practice for undergraduate medical student teaching, taking students from Barts and the London Hospital Medical College.

In addition to teaching, the partners in the Practice have additional interests in clinical governance, medical audit, the Primary Care Trust, family planning and obstetrics and gynaecology.
